Birds of Sanibel

Here's another layout I did that combines two different challenges. One challenge is over at Turtle Soup where you had to use something new. Well, I've had these two stencils for maybe a month and haven't used them so this was the perfect opportunity to break them out. The second challenge is the Got Talent Mini Challenge at My Scraps & More. For this one you had to cut your photos into a shape other than a square or rectangle so I chose a triangle.

Vacation

I was able to combine two challenges on this layout. One was for the Mini Crop going on at Turtle Soup and the other was for the Got Talent Challenge at My Scraps & More.

The Turtle Soup challenge was an inspirational quote challenge. I used the actual quote on my page.
For the My Scraps & More challenge you could only use patterned paper, including embellies and the title, on your layout. At least you could use cardstock for your background. I had such a hard time keeping myself from pulling out all my embellies. I don't think I've ever done this kind of challenge before but it was fun!

Memories

This layout was done for three different challenges. One for the Mini Crop at Turtle Soup, for the 8/13 challenge at My Scraps & More and sketch #63 over at Sketch-N-Scrap.

The challenge at Turtle Soup was to use vacation photos and many layers. I think this qualifies!
The challenge at My Scraps & More was to use a speech bubble. I thought it would be perfect for the date. I wrote the date on the background paper and then popped up the speech bubble.
Here's the sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap. This was a fun sketch!

All the papers here are from Echo Parks Capture Life collection by Allison Kreft.

Sympathy Card

We have a Mini Crop going on over at Turtle Soup and this card is for one of the challenges. Ashley challenged us to make a card for other occasions. I always have birthday and hello cards made but I never seem to make any sympathy cards until I need them and then I'm usually scrambling to get them done and in the mail. So this was the perfect push for me to get at least one sympathy card done in advance.

The butterflies were done using my new stencil. I just got it yesterday, it's from Recollections. I love it! I just dabbed some white ink over it.

Ice Princess

Here's a layout about my granddaughter, Cadence, at The Ice Palace at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH. On her February school break this year her family spent the day playing in the ice and snow up in NH. She had a ball and thought the Ice Palace was so fun.

This is for the My Scraps & More Got Talent Mini Challenge. You had to use a book title for your title and you had to have a library pocket card on your layout. I used an old collection from Fancy Pants called Winter Wonderland. Everything on this page is from that collection.

Summer in the City

Our monthly Mini Crop at Turtle Soup is starting today. My challenge for the mini crop is to use some of those summer photos we've been taking and there's a twist. You must use at least 5 different embellishments.

I used more than 5 different embellishments. I dug through my stash and pulled out some really old embellies. I used washi tape, metal arrows, brads, metal bicycle, stickers, flair button, die cuts, gesso and a foam sticker.  I could have kept on adding more embellies but I thought that might be overkill!

There are lots of fun challenges going on over at Turtle Soup and a chance to win a prize package. Please come join us!

USS Arizona

Here's a page I did for our Hawaiian honeymoon album. We got married in Hawaii just about 8 years ago and I'm still working on that album. At the rate I'm going I'll never finish, we took over 600 photos and those don't include our wedding photos. At least I got all the wedding photos scrapped! This page is about Pearl Harbor. I can't believe all the emotions the USS Arizona brought out. There were probably 50-75 people out on the memorial with us and it was completely silent. No one spoke the whole time we were there. Some people threw leis in the water that actually brought tears to my eyes. And seeing the oil still leaking from the ship......a very moving site to see.

This is for the 8/11 Got Talent Challenge at My Scraps & More. You had to get messy and not use any tools on your background and you had to fussy cut at least 3 embellies. I took gesso and spread it around my paper with my fingers and then added some Blingz paint with my fingers. I used some Perfect Pearls mist and let it drip down along the bottom of the page and I fussy cut all the stars. I kept this kinda simple because I wanted the photos to speak for themselves.

Dream

I just love this photo of my two granddaughters. They have to share a bed when on vacation and the oldest hates every minute of it because her sister is always touching her. I remember those days when my brother was always touching me. I guess pretty much every child goes through this.

This layout is for the Got Talent Mini Challenge over at My Scraps & More. You could only use one photo at least 4x6 and you had to use a quilted look. I don't quilt but I love quilts. I had one that my paternal grandmother had made out of her boys old pajamas. She wasn't much of a quilter but to me it was beautiful. This pattern is similar to the quilt pattern she used. I wish I still had the quilt but it just fell apart. I took it to someone to see if they could repair it and it was just too far gone. I really miss that quilt.

C'est Magnifique

This is a layout about the beautiful scenery out in the Sedona, AZ area. We spent a week there back in 2008 and I've hardly scrapped any of the photos we took. So when I saw this Got Talent Challenge at My Scraps & More where you had to use a foreign language for the title or sub title I thought a photo of those magnificent rock formations would be perfect.

I wanted this page to have a natural feel with some texture so I thought the burlap flower and banners were perfect. The papers are from Basic Grey's Capture line and the big gem on the flower along with the three little ones are Jillibean Wood Sprinkles.

Cheer

Today we have a Design Team sketch reveal over at Turtle Soup. The whole team works with the same sketch and I love how different everyone's layout looks.

And here's the sketch we had to work with:

This is my granddaughter, Cadence, who decided to try cheering last year. She's following in her mother's footsteps. Colleen has been cheering since she was 3 years old and is now coaching Cadence's team. These photos are from the end of year banquet where all the little cheerleaders got their own trophy and Cadence was very proud of hers.

And again, this layout was done will all scraps. I've been doing a lot of layouts with only scraps lately so you would think my scrap piles would be shrinking but it sure doesn't seem that way!

Sisterly Love

Here's a page I did for My Scraps & More 7/31 Got Talent Mini challenge. You had to use squares on your page and they had to be the focal point.

I cut the square grids on my Cricut using the Designer Calendar cartridge and then backed some areas of them with some printed papers.  I stenciled the hearts on the background paper and added some little embellishments and it was done.

T-Ball

This is a layout about my granddaughter, Cadence. She has played T-Ball for two years and really seems to enjoy it.

This layout is for today's sketch reveal at My Scraps & More Sketches. Here's the sketch we used:

As you can see, I used mostly cardstock but in different shades of orange. The title was cut with my Cricut and all the other embellishments were stickers. Easy peasy layout!

Hope you'll stop by and play along at My Scraps & More Sketches!
