Beauty Lies Within

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new sketch every Monday and on Wednesday we reveal all the Design Team members examples along with the winners from the previous week. I thought this week's sketch was perfect for a Mother's Day card.

Here's my card

Here's the sketch

I didn't follow the sketch exactly but that's the beauty of a sketch. You just let it take you wherever. I started by stamping the purple background with a large floral design from MFT stamps and some Versamark ink. I then clear embossed it to bring it out and make a textured surface. The butterfly is from Hero Arts and was colored in with pencils. The sentiment is also from Hero Arts and the sentiment tag is from MFT Stamps. I then added some Nuvo Drops in crushed grape and winter blizzard to give it some sparkle.

Snow White

We've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Clue - the Scrap Game Version. For each challenge you enter you will receive a clue as to who is our suspect. First person to identify the suspect wins.  I chose Col. Mustard as my character so for this challenge you'll need to use yellow as your main color along with some bling, polka dots, punches and washi tape.

This page came together quickly. You can easily see my bling, polka dots, punches and washi tape. My favorite part is the title work. I was finally able to download the latest version of Cricut and get the offset update. I'm so excited about that and it was super easy to use...I just love it!

Birthday Easel Card

We've got a new card challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Every month we have a new card challenge  and you have a whole month to enter the challenge. This month's challenge is to make an easel card. I've always wanted to try one but just never got around to it. I recently watched a couple of Jennifer McGuire's videos on easel cards and finally tried one. I was surprised at how easy they are. Here are the videos I watched:

Here's my example

I started with a white base and then used a stencil and Distress Oxide inks to make the swirly background and matted it in black. The Happy Birthday was die cut 3 times to really make it stand out. The sentiment is from a MFT stamp set which I matted in two different pinks and again in black.
I love how this turned out and will definitely be making more easel cards!

Painted Ladies

There's a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This was such a fun sketch! I got to get messy and pulled out some very old circle tools that haven't been used in many, many years. These are my two granddaughters who just had their faces painted at Hollywood Studios.

Here's the sketch

I started with some watercolor paint and just smooshed it around. Then I found some old Fiskars circle cutter templates and used them to make the circles. I can't even remember using them before and can't find the cutters that went with the templates (not that I need them). The title was cut with my Cricut using the Waltograph font from DaFont. The stars and Disney Castle are from an Echo Park stamp set. I also added some Nuvo Drops in red and black along with some torn washi tape strips on the edges.

Get A Clue

There's a new cut file challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. Every month we have a new challenge using a cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I've only recently discovered cut files and I love working with them. The cut files from the Cut Shoppe work so well with my Cricut.

The monthly cut file usually ties into our monthly theme. This month's theme is Clue - The Scrap Game which is based on the board game Clue. All our challenges for the month are based around the game and for every challenge you enter you are given a clue as to who the suspect is and how they killed the victim. First person to guess correctly wins a $20.00 GC to their favorite scrapbooking store. We also have a separate prize for the cut file challenge, a GC to The Cut Shoppe. So come check us out at Cookin' Up Creations!

This is fun!

We've got a new challenge clue up over at Cookin' Up Creations today. This months's theme is our 2nd annual Clue - The Scrap Game.  All challenges will have something to do with the board game Clue and for each challenge you complete you'll get a clue sent to you to help you solve the game. First person to solve it will win a prize so the more challenges you complete, the more chances you'll get to win.

For this challenge we need to get started on some background checks on our suspects. You'll need to do some background work on your page.  It can be anything….ie: ink, paint, stencil work, mixed media, mists, stamps. I’ve used stencils with ink for the sunburst on the top. For the dotted stripes behind the photo I used gelatos mixed with modeling paste and another stencil.

So come play Clue with us. It's a lot of fun with all kinds of fun challenges! Hope to see you there!
