Hello Card

We've got a new card sketch up at the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Blog today. Every Monday we have a new card sketch and on Wednesday we reveal all the DT members examples. I hope you stop by and play along with us.

Here's my card

Here's this weeks sketch

For my card I started with a black card base and then took some water color paper and swiped some watercolors across the mid section. Then die cut a black ragged edge frame, added a light purple piece of cardstock on top and stamped and embossed the Hello sentiment. I die cut the flower in a darker purple cardstock and stamped it with a script stamp in black. And for the finishing touch I added several black Nuvo Drops.

Topsfield Fair 2017

I decided to play along with another challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is TV Game Shows. This challenge is based on the game show Blockbuster which I've never heard of but players had to answer trivia questions and complete a path through the hexagons on the playing board. So for this challenge you had to use hexagons on you layout.

I used a stencil and some Distress Oxides to create a hexagonal pattern on the right and then punched some hexagons for the left side.

School Days

We've got some fun challenges up at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is Game Shows. I decided to enter the Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader challenge where you had to make it a school themed page.

All the embellishments came from a very old collection from Graphic 45....I can't remember what it was called. The notebook page frame was from a different company that I've had for ages.  I love using up older things, means I can buy more new things. lol

It's Time to Celebrate

We've got a new card sketch up today over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. We have a new one every Monday and we'd love for you to play along. On Wednesday we show all the DT members examples and announce the winners from the previous week.

Here's this week sketch

Here's my take on it

I started with a white card base. I used a piece of yellow cardstock and stenciled some Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide on the top. I punched 2 strips of scallops in 2 different colors of blue and then staggered them. The flowers are all die cuts from Paper Roses and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things. Then I decided to add some black Nuvo Drops to the flower centers and the bottom left corner just for good measure.

I  hope you'll come play along with us!

Sun Kissed Girls

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. Each day a different DT member will reveal her take on the sketch. Come play along with us!

Here's my take

Here's the sketch

This came together so quickly once I decided on the photos. All the papers were from my scrap pile and the stickers have been in my stash for at least 10 years. It always feels so good to use up some of my older supplies.....makes room for new stash!

Cheer Thing

I've got a challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is TV game shows. Each challenge will be based on a game show. For this challenge I picked the old and very short lived  Reach For the Stars game. I never saw it but it is about 3 contestants who answer questions or perform a stunt to attain their dream. I knew I had the perfect photo for this one. This is my granddaughter who had just received her very first Cheerleading trophy. She was very proud of herself as we all were. So for this challenge I want you to use stars on your layout.

Her team colors were blue and gold so I cut the stars out with my Cricut and then found some cheerleading stickers in my stash. This came together so quickly!
So come join us and play some games with us!

Blessed

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is Game Shows. Each challenge will be based on a game show. For this challenge I chose Tic Tac Dough. I've created a Tic Tac Dough grid and you must choose across, down or diagonal and then use all three items on your layout.  Stop by Cookin' Up Creations to see the grid. I hope you'll join us.

For my layout I chose to go diagonal and use bling, ink and die cuts. I've used some black and gold bling around the flower and some gold bling along each side of the photo. The ink is in the stamping behind the photo and the die cuts are the corner pieces and the title.

It's Time to Celebrate

It's day 3 of the MFT Summer School. Today's lesson is about symmetry, which refers to positioning your elements mirrored across an imaginary line that divides your project into even segments.

Here's my example

I started with a piece of white cardstock and blended several different colors of Distress Oxide Ink across it and then spritzed it lightly with some shimmer mist. Once it was dry I die cut the mandela using the MFT Captivating Mandela and placed it on a black piece of cardstock. The sentiment is from the MFT Bitty Birthday Wishes collection and stamped on an MFT banner die cut. I also added some glitter Nuvo Drops to the Mandela just for some sparkle.

Just For You

It's the second day of MFT Summer School and today's lesson was about Rainbows or more specifically using the ROYGBIV arrangement. Basically you can't go wrong with that color arrangement.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in the center. I then stamped the butterflies all around the sentiment. I colored them in with watercolor pencils and then applied water with a water brush to bring out the colors. I decided to use a black card base to really make all the colors pop.

Happy Birthday

I decided to play along with the MFT Time to Hit the Books Summer School. I've played along the last couple of years and really enjoyed it. There's always something new to learn. Today's lesson is about creating a visual triangle on your card. I thought I'd give it a try and I really like how it came out.

I started by brushing on some Distress Oxides and blending them together. I used Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemon and Twisted Citron. I die cut the flowers in a teal cardstock and then stamped them with a french script stamp and arranged them in a visual triangle. The Happy Birthday was die cut 3 times and glued together in a darker teal cardstock. I then added some black nailheads to the flower centers and some dark teal colored gems to create 2 more areas of a visual triangle.

Holiday Wishes

It's a new month so that means a new card challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations. You never know what kind of card challenge it'll be, but you can play along all month and make as many cards as you like. Just be sure to post them in the gallery there and in the Monthly Card Challenge thread. So for this month I thought it would be a good time to start working on Christmas cards. I know if I don't start early I won't get them all made and then I have to go buy some. And then I get complaints from friends that they didn't get a handmade card. So I thought I'd start now....who's with me?

Here's my first Christmas card for 2020

I just got this Santa die at Tuesday Morning and couldn't wait to use it but couldn't decide how to use it. I finally decided the only way was to use it as a silhouette. So I decided to create a nighttime scene in the background with some Distress Oxides for the night sky and then die cut the birch trees and hills of snow. Then I decided to put a frame around it like you would be looking out a window and seeing the shadow of Santa going by.

I hope you'll stop by and play along with us. By the way, this month's theme for the layout challenges at Cookin' Up Creations is TV Game Shows. It's gonna be a lot of fun! Hope to see you there!

Kohr's Custard

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month our theme is all about Game Shows and each challenge will be based on a specific game show. I picked the game show I've Got A Secret for this challenge and you must have some hidden journaling on your layout.

This layout is my granddaughters eating some Kohr's Custard in Ocean City, NJ. The hidden journaling is behind the photo. You can see part of it sticking out on the left side. It says "Every night as we left the boardwalk, we would stop at Kohr's Custard for a sweet treat. Tonight we had an extra treat....we got to meet their mascot.

I took some watercolor paint and smooshed it on the white cardstock and then flicked some black Dylusions mist around. Then I just dug through my stash and added all sorts of ephemera and stickers. I used a lot of really old stash!
