 We've got a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month our theme is based on the old show The Brady Bunch. All challenges will be related to the show or actors.

When I think about The Brady Bunch I remember the fashion trends from that period and yes I wore some of those fashions. So my challenge is based on those trends. You will need to have some zigzags on your page, which I did with a stencil and some Distress Oxide. You will also need to add some fringe to your layout. I used an old pair of Martha Stewart fringe scissors to cut some cardstock into fringe. So there you have it....this is my retro fashion layout.

New Year's Eve

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is all about Winnie the Pooh with lots of fun challenges that have to do with this famous little bear. 

My challenge is all about the honey that Winnie the Pooh loves so much. You'll need to use gold and hexagons on your layout. I started with a black background and splattered some gold mist around and then used a hexagon stencil with some gold ink. I added two gold strips behind the photo as well. The title offset paper is also gold. I hope you'll come join us for this fun theme!

Harpers Ferry Stone House

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!  All challenges will be based on those loveable characters. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us! 

My challenge is based on the 100 Acre Forest. You'll need to use trees along with greens and browns.

I've had this piece of paper for probably 15 years and couldn't figure out how to use it. I ran across it while going through my papers and thought it would be perfect for this challenge and not need a lot of embellishment. So, all I did was mat the photo with some green and orange paper and added the journaling. I printed the journaling out on cream cardstock, tore the edges and then aged it using Distress Inks and Oxides. I added the wooden leaves and squirrel just to add some more texture.

School Days

 There's a new sketch up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month we are celebrating our 7th Annual Mad About Sketches featuring sketches from the talented Jenessa Franco. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us....there are lots of fun sketches to choose from.

This was a fun sketch to work with. I took some doilies and inked them up with some Distress Oxides. Then dug into my scraps and pulled out the blue and pink papers to match my granddaughter's dress. The stars were cut using Stitched Stars from Tutti Designs. I also added some pink and blue splatters on the white background.

So Excited

 I've got a challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is Mad About Sketches and we are using sketches by the talented Jenessa Franco. I hope you'll join us!

Here's the sketch

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for a Disney page. I got out my circle dies and went to town which used up a lot of my Disney paper scraps. I also added some black and red splatters to the background and instead of hearts I used stars and Mickey heads.

Squeeze the Day

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is Clue, the Scrapbook Game. We are using the characters, weapons and rooms from the board game to come up with some fun challenges. You get to be the detective and figure out who, what and where. For each challenge you complete you will get a clue to help you solve the crime. So the more challenges you complete, the more clues you will receive. The person who solves the crime will get a prize.

I chose Col. Mustard for this challenge. So you'll need to use yellow and lots of layers on your layout. 

I used Simple Stories, Simple Vintage Lemon Twist collection against a solid yellow piece of cardstock on my layout.  I hope you'll play along with us.

Biker Babes

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is Clue, the Scrap Game. For each challenge you complete you'll get a clue to solve the murder. So the more challenges you do, the more clues you'll get to solve the murder. This is always such a fun theme!

I chose the candlestick for the murder weapon. So for this challenge you'll need to use splatters which will represent the wax drippings from the candle. Along with that you'll also need to add some die cuts to your page. On my page I've added pink and purple splatters along with scooter and roadway die cuts.

 I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is all about celebrating our 6th anniversary. Challenges will be based on the "Birthday Theme"....but not necessarily about birthdays - so, don't worry if you don't have any birthday pictures as the possibilities are limitless...as there'll be challenges for everyone.

My challenge takes you back to when you were a kid. I'm betting that you were really looking forward to the cake, the presents and the games. So I "translated" those 3 things into scrapping lingo.

America the Beautiful

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month we are celebrating the sixth Anniversary of Cookin' Up Creations. All challenges will be based on the birthday theme. Not to worry though, you don't need to use birthday photos.

My challenge is celebrating the birthday of your country. You'll need to use the colors of your country along with some punches.  Since I'm in the USA, I used red, white and blue. I stenciled the background with some fireworks. I also punched some red and white and blue and white papers with a scalloped edge punch. Then I dug through my sticker stash and found some very old stickers that went well with this layout.

Say What!

 I've got a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is Alice in Wonderland. There will be some interesting challenges this month! Come play along with us!

These are my two granddaughters. We were at Disney waiting in line for some ride and I'm guessing looking at the wait times for other rides they wanted to go on. I wish I could remember more but I love the looks on their faces. 

So I started with a bright yellow background and then dug into all my Disney papers (I have so much) and cut out different sizes of circles along with the title on my Cricut.  Then I decided to doodle around the title offset and a little on the photo frame. This was a quick and easy layout.

Bee's Knees

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Alice in Wonderland and all the challenges will be based on that movie. My challenge is based on the Queen of Hearts character. All you need to do is use hearts on your layout. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us. 

This is my youngest granddaughter getting her hair cut for the start of the new school year. I may be a bit partial but I think she has beautiful hair.

I started with a light blue background and cut all the hearts out on my Cricut. Then just dug through my stash and added the stars, dots, sentiments, flowers and banners along the bottom.

Cadence

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This months theme is Out with the Old and In with the New. We're trying to use up our older stash before we buy anything new. Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen!

My challenge was to use some ribbon on your page or maybe even some fabric. If you don't have either, which I find hard to believe, lol, you can use twine or even thread.

I started with a white background and covered it in clear gesso so the watercolor background wouldn't make the paper bubble. I sprayed some pink and green Glimmer Mist around the page and then dipped a paint brush in water to push the mist around and thin it out a bit. The layers behind the photo are from a Paper Studio pad called Uptown Flair. The film strip name I picked up years ago at a Scrapbook convention. Unfortunately the company that made them has gone out of business.

I Love Softball

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is Out With the Old and In With the New meaning let's use up some of our old stash. We've all got it so let's use it!

So I'm challenging you to use up those stickers, at least 4 of them along with some paper from an older paper pad. And then just for fun do some inking on the old paper.

I've had these softball stickers for a while now and since this was the last year my granddaughter played softball, I really wanted to use them up. The torn papers are from an old Paper Studio pad called Barnwood Pretty. The paper is so thin that I hardly ever use any of it and the pad has 180 pieces of paper.....it'll last me forever!

Bye Bye Elves

 There's a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month is all about our favorite Christmas movies. All challenges will be tied into the movies. For my challenge I chose The Elf on the Shelf movie.  My granddaughters have enjoyed having the elves visit every Christmas since they were babies…they’re now 15 and 12 years old….and they still look forward to seeing them. Who wouldn’t since the elves now bring little presents every night!

This layout is about my youngest granddaughter saying good bye to the elves. My challenge is to use red and green, layering and some sparkle such as sequins, gems acrylic pieces etc.

Fall Fun

  I've got a new challenge up at the Cookin' Up Creations site today. Our theme this month is It's Turkey Time and challenges are based on Thanksgiving recipes. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us...you might even find some yummy new recipes.

My recipe called for using yellow, orange, white/cream, red circles, polka dots and something sparkly.

I die cut all the squares using some stitched dies and then used a whole punch for all the little red circles. The title was cut on my Cricut using some bronze glitter paper.

Escape Room Fun

 I've got a new challenge up at the Cookin' Up Creations site today. Our theme this month is It's Turkey Time and challenges are based on Thanksgiving recipes. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us...you might even find some yummy new recipes.

My recipe is Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Here's the recipe:

Potatoes - start with a white background

Gravy - use some brown

Salt - use more white

Pepper - use some black

Butter - use some gold or yellow

Don't forget the potato masher - use some metal

My page started with the white background for the potatoes and for the gravy I did some brown  background work. The salt is a white photo mat and a teeny white sticker. The pepper is the black splatters. The butter is the two gold keys and the potato masher is lots of metal findings.

Sunset

I've got a new challenge up over at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Careers. Each challenge will focus on a different career. For my career, I chose Astronomer, someone who studies planets, starts and other celestial bodies. My example shows a sunset at Topsail Beach, NC.

I started with a white background and sprayed some blue and copper mists around and used a chicken wire stencil also. I stamped some beach grasses too. The papers were from my scrap pile and I pulled out some cork paper for the triangles and flags. Then I just added some beachy embellishments and some coconut shell buttons.

 There's a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is He Said, She Said and all challenges will be based on a quote or saying. This should be a lot of fun! I hope you'll come join us!

I chose a quote by Leo Tolstoy. "If you want to be happy, Be". I love that quote and when I saw this photo of my stepdaughter and granddaughter that was the first thing that came to mind. They both just look so happy. Of course they are in their favorite place....Disney World. 

I started with a white background and added some Distress Oxides mixed with water and then scrunched the ink on the paper. All the layered papers are from a DCWV paper pad called Pocket Blossoms. I don't know where the tiny hearts, flowers and feather stickers are from...I won them in a challenge. The large happy puffy title is from Thickers, genius collection.

Smoky Mountains

  I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is America the Beautiful and you can interpret that in so many ways. It can be something in nature that you think is beautiful or even a beautiful person. It can be a candid moment you caught on film. Just something that you think makes America beautiful. 

These photos were taken on our vacation in the Smoky Mountains. I couldn't believe it when I saw what looks like smoke coming out of the vallleys. It was beautiful! Now I understand why they are called the Smoky Mountains.

I kept this simple so you could focus on the photos. The title is a laser die cut that I bought at a huge scrapbook store I found in the Smoky Mountain area. I typed up the journaling and then cut it into strips. Easy and quick layout!

Outdoor Adventure

 I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is America the Beautiful and you can interpret that in so many ways. It can be something in nature that you think is beautiful or even a beautiful person. It can be a candid moment you caught on film. Just something that you think makes America beautiful. 

I love taking photos of nature, especially trees. This one was taken on a trip to Chattanooga, TN. I don't know if these are trees or vines but I loved how they were all entangled.

I kept the layout kind of simple so that the photos would stand out. All the papers used were scraps except for the background paper which is very old. Even the wood leaves are several years old.
