Chicks and Ice Cream

Here's a card I made using the Flavor of the Month Card Kit from Scrapping for Less. This was a great kit with lots of pretty papers and cute stamps. I fell in love with this image and the sentiment was perfect for it.

I decided to mix the busy printed papers and loved how the image still stood out so well against the busy background. I colored in the image with my Spectrum Noir pens and then added some light blue chalk all around the image to tone down the white paper. Then added some clear accents in the top corner and it was done.

Punkin Time

Here's a page I did for a sketch challenge going on over at Creative Inspiration. I really liked this sketch and had some fun with it.

Here's the sketch

I got to use up some scraps, which always makes me happy along with some really old papers and embellishments. And the best thing is that with this layout I have finished my youngest granddaughters 2013/2014 album. I've already started more recent albums for her but decided I really needed to finish out the oldest ones. Thank goodness I only have 2 grandkids!

Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

I've got a layout up at Sketches in Thyme today. Our sketch for this week was very intimidating for me as I don't usually do more than 2 photos on my layouts. This one called for 6 but I only used 4.

Here's the sketch for this week

I hope you'll stop by Sketches in Thyme and check out all the other designers takes on this sketch.

Masculine Birthday Card

Here's a card I made for my husband's birthday. I have such a hard time coming up with masculine cards so I usually browse through Pinterest and Facebook and then by the time I'm through I'm all confused.  Anyway, I saw a card like this somewhere but I can't find it again so I can't give the maker any credit and for that I am sorry.

I can't believe how easy this was and I am thrilled with the way it came out. I just took some watercolor paper and used some brown, gray and black watercolor paint to come up with the base and then stamped the tress on top. I then stamped and embossed the birthday wishes sentiment and it was done.
This is also for the challenge going on at Cards in Envy where your card had to be only 1 layer.

A Visit From Santa Claus

I've got a stash challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I'm asking you to dig into your stash and use up some washi tape and rub-ons. I have tons of washi tape but never remember to use it. I also have some really old rub-ons and I thought I'd better use them before they go bad.

I've been trying to finish up my youngest granddaughter's 2014 album and I'm so close.....only a few more layouts to go. Anyway, I started by using some watercolor paint and doing the smooshing technique for the background. Then I added some washi tape along the top, bottom and middle of the page. My rub-on is on the bottom left. The felt Ho Ho Ho and Santa face are left over from an advent calendar my husband made for our granddaughters.

Stack and Cut Quilt Cards

I've got a challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I came across this tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers and thought it would be great to make a set of note cards.
Here's the tutorial: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/stackandcutquiltcards/

I did make 5 of them as it shows in the tutorial but unfortunately I dropped an ink pad on one and completely ruined it. I also used the shadow effect on each of the sentiments by offsetting 2 layers of die cuts. Such a simple technique but it really makes such a big difference. I love how it gives the sentiment so much depth and dimension.

I hope you'll stop by Creative Inspiration and play along with us. We have challenges going on all month long. Please join us!

Happy National Scrapbook Day

To celebrate NSD, we've got a mini crop going on over at Creative Inspiration. Lots of fun challenges and games and you have til Sunday, May 13th to play along. My challenge is to make a layout with white space. It can be hard to do, at least for me. I love the look of them but I have a hard time leaving white space.....my layouts always look like something is missing to me.

Here's my example

I started by stamping down the center of the page using several different stamps then added a few punched hexagons. I dug around in my stash and pulled out several different items like stickers, gems, fall leaves, chipboard buttons along some twine and raffia. It didn't look done to me so I had to add some black droplets. I'm pretty happy with it!

Please stop by Creative Inspiration and play along with us. We'd love to see your creations!
