How To Decorate A Pretty Travel Journal

I've got a fun little project up at the ScraPerfect blog today that will help you keep your vacation keepsakes organized. Whenever we go on vacation, I always keep ticket stubs, receipts and brochures that I think I might use when I get around to scrapping the photos. I usually just stuff them in my purse or suitcase and they get wrinkled and sometimes even lost. Or I can't even remember what they were for. So, I decided to make a Travel Journal to take along with me.

I won this Brag Book several years ago and couldn't figure out what to do with it. It came with journaling pages, 2 slot photo sleeves and pocket pages. Sounds perfect for a Travel Journal, right? 

It had a blank cover so I definitely had to decorate it. I dug through my stash and found all these travel themed embellishments that would be perfect for a Travel Journal.

Now, I wanted to be sure all these embellishments were adhered strongly to the cover, so of course I grabbed my bottle of the Best Glue Ever along with the No Clog Writing Tip. Some of those embellishments were very tiny and needed just a thin line of glue so the No Clog Writing Tip came in very handy. And here's another tip.....the get out there embellishment is a clear piece of plastic and naturally you don't want any glue to show through so I applied some of the Best Glue Ever behind the letters and let it get tacky before sticking it down on the paper. That way it wouldn't squish outside of the letters and show through.

I plan on sitting down every evening and organize my keepsakes and writing about what we saw and did that day. That way everything will be in one place when I get around to scrapping our vacations.

Mama Bird

Welcome to the Creative Inspiration Blog Hop! For my project I decided to alter a metal bird I found at Hobby Lobby. It was a rusty metal bird that was attached to the wooden base.

I started by taking the bird off the base. I painted the bird with white acrylic paint and then put several colors of metallic gelatos over the paint. I added the nest on top of the base and reattached the bird. I added some moss to the nest and 3 little plastic eggs. I die cut the flower and the fern like leaves just to add a little color and then wrapped the blue and white twine around the base. 

My challenge to you is to make something that has a bird and flowers on it. It doesn't have to be an altered item. It can be a layout, card, ATC or whatever you want.

How To Upcycle A Simple Spice Jar Into Something Cute

Hello Scrappy Friends! I've got an altered project up at the ScraPerfect Blog today and I'd like to show you how I transformed a simple spice jar into a cute little container.

This is what I started with. It was a very old (like probably 20 years old) spice jar. My mother had saved a couple of these and I found them when I cleaned out her house a couple of years ago.

I peeled as much of the label off as I could and had quite a mess left on the jar.

As you can see, I grabbed my Best Cleaner Ever and went to work on it. Look how nice and clean it came out!

Now comes the fun part of decorating the jar. I took two different colors of jute that I wanted to wrap around the jar. I used some of the Best Glue Ever and painted around the middle of the jar with it. I then wrapped the jute around and it held beautifully.

And since we've been doing a cross promotion with Lawn Fawn I used their stamps and dies to create a banner for the label. I used the Bannertastic stamp and die set. Their dies and stamps are just the cutest and they cut and stamp so crisply!

I also added several flowers and leaves and since it's a container for my pins I added two pearl stick pins. For the lid, I used some more of the Best Glue Ever to glue the ribbon and raffia around the side of the lid. This was adhering fabric to metal and the Best Glue Ever worked perfectly! For the top of the lid I just punched out a circle and placed a flower on top.
