Walking the Boardwalk

We've got a new sketch up over at Sketches in Thyme today. We have a new one each week and if you play along you may win a $10 gift certificate. My layout is about my family's annual trip to the Jersey Shore. This trip was to Ocean City where we walked the boardwalk every night looking for fun things to do and of course eat some yummy treats.

Here's my take on the sketch

Here's the sketch by Jenessa Franco

This was such a fun sketch to work with. I started with a background from Vicki Boutin...it reminded me of water rolling up on the beach. The layering papers are from an old Paper Studio pad called Barnwood Pretty 2. The doily was white and I inked it with gold. The seashell stickers and the saying have been in my stash forever. It always feels good to use up old stash!

Live, Laugh, Love

There's a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This week's sketch is by Brenda Ragsdale. I hope you'll check it out and play along with us.

Here's my layout

Here's the sketch

I dug through my collections and finally pulled out one from Fancy Pants from 2014 called True Friend. There wasn't much left of the collection but there was just enough for this sketch. The Live, Laugh, Love is from Me & My Big Ideas Pocket Pages Cards. The shine button is from Creative Embellishments and the tags are from Kaiser Kraft's Seaside Collection.
The photos aren't that great but I love the big smiles on my granddaughter's face.

Go Mama

I've got an Anything Goes Challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I decided to try something a little different and have everyone play a game of Tic Tac Toe to complete their project.

Here's the Tic Tac Toe Grid to use

Washi Tape

Torn Edges

Ink

Flowers

Texture Paste

Stickers

Bling

Ribbon

Paint

You can choose to go horizontally, vertically or diagonally but you must use all 3 items on your project. For my layout, I chose to go diagonally and used Washi Tape, Texture Paste and Paint.

The Washi Tape is the black chevrons behind the photos, the texture paste was used to make the white stars and for the paint I used blue and green watercolor behind the photos.

I hope you'll stop by and play along with us over at Creative Inspiration!

Rockport

I've got a sketch reveal up at Sketches in Thyme today and I hope you'll join us  and enter your take on our sketch. Here's my layout...

Here's the sketch

This was a fun sketch to work with!  I don't print my own photos so I never have the smaller size photos for a multi photo sketch. So I had to come up with something different and decided to use some pretty printed papers for my other "photos". I love how it came out and will definitely be using this design on other layouts.

Surfer Girl

I got another layout done for the mini crop going on at Creative Inspiration. This challenge theme was summer fun. These photos were perfect for that theme. This was last summer at Ocean City, NJ. My granddaughter really conquered her fears of the water in the week we were there. The 1st day she would only jump over the tiniest waves holding someone's hand but by the end of the week she was actually riding the waves with her surfboard. Can't wait to see what she'll do this summer!

Pool Time

We've got a Mini Crop going on over at Creative Inspiration and this month's theme is color. Every challenge will be using a different color. My challenge is to use yellow on your project. You can add in another color but yellow must be the most prominent color.

I pulled a bunch of scraps out and made a 4 layer mat for the photo. The bubbles around the photo were done with a stencil and some glass bead texture gel mixed with some blue gelato. It's hard to see in the photo but the glass beads really make them look like bubbles. Then I just went through my stash and pulled out different embellishments.

I hope you'll come join our mini crop and play along. There's always lots of inspiration there!

Celebrate Summer

I'm up today on the Sketches in Thyme blog with a bit of a summer themed layout. I've had enough of all the holiday and winter projects and thought maybe a summer one would warm me up! lol

Here's the sketch we are working with this week

Mine really went off in a different direction from the sketch. I was really inspired by the background but I still didn't follow the sketch. That's the beauty of sketches and I love seeing how everyone interprets sketches differently. Stop by our blog each day this week and see all the different takes on this sketch and play along with us.

Summer Colors

I've got an Inspiration Challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I was getting tired of working with all the holiday and winter colors so I decided to use some summer colors as my inspiration. Here's my summer layout.

And here's the inspiration

I pretty much used everything from the inspiration photo on my layout. I loved the mix of bright colors so I used several different colors of plain cardstock and tore the edges. I was going for a kind of wave effect, not sure I really achieved it, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I used a wave stencil and did an ombre effect using 3 different shades of blue ink. The rest is just different ephemera I found in my stash. I also added one of the beach tags from our trip to Ocean City, NJ.

If you'd like to play along with the challenge please visit us at Creative Inspiration. We have lots of fun challenges going on and would love to have you join in!

Rockport

Here's a couple of older photos of my stepdaughter and granddaughters who go to Rockport, MA every summer. This layout is for 2 different challenges. One for the mini crop going on at Creative Inspiration and also for the July 1st sketch at Sketch-N-Scrap.  I used papers from an old DCWV paper stack that I've had forever. They work perfectly for these photos.
