I promise, this is it for gift card holders! I die cut the package and all the layers from the new Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland Cricut cartridge. I love that cartridge! It has so many pretty cuts on it.
On the back of it I just added a little envelope to hold the gift card. Another clean and simple one!

Quick Little Tag
I usually make a lot of little to and from tags for Christmas gifts, but this year I only made one. We seemed to give more gift cards than actual gifts this year so I ended up using envelopes for all the gift card holders. Didn't want to lose all those valuable gift cards!
I cut the trees out with my Cuttlebug and added some stickles to them. Then stamped the background and embossed the stars. Added the snow on the bottom along with some more stickles and tied a little bow with twine. Quick and easy!

Winter Inspiration
I hosted a challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations where you had to use something I chose as an inspiration for your layout. Since it was winter, I decided to pick a winter landscape for everyone's inspiration.
I just love this photo! It feels so cold and icy and the sky is such a beautiful shade of blue! I took my inspiration from the colors and the feel and this is what I came up with.
I've had this paper with the penguin on it for years but never found the right photo to go with it. The snowflakes came from the same collection as the paper. I believe it was Reminisce but can't remember the collection. The photo looks like it has snowflakes on it but it's not. Sadly something got on the photo and took the color out. But it's so cute, I decided to use it anyway!
More Christmas Cards
It's the last Monday of the year and I'm trying to get caught up here on my blog. Here are a couple more of my Christmas cards for this year.
My Joy card; another clean and simple one. I used tinsel for the first time and I really like it. I made several cards like this and when I was finished I had tinsel all over the place. It's worse than glitter!

This is a variation on my all white card. I just thought the little pops of red really pulled this card together.

Snowman Card
I just love snowmen! I have quite a collection of them and try to add a new one each year. So it just wouldn't be Christmas without me making a snowman card.
I cut the snowflakes out on my cricut and coated them in glossy accents and added some glitter. The snowman's head and hat were made using circle punches and for his eyes and mouth I used a regular old hole punch. I just cut his nose out by hand. This was so simple, yet to me, it's oh so cute!

Gift Card Box
I came across this Gift Card Holder Box tutorial at Split Coast Stampers and decided to give it a try. It was surprisingly simple! I love how different it is from the usual gift card holders.
This is what it looks like all closed up. All the blue papers just slide off to open. I made a wrapper to help keep it closed.
This is what it looks like open. I love how the gift cards pop up when you open the lid. I was thrilled how this turned out. I always think the gift seems so much more special when the packaging is so different. This gift was for my son-in-law and I doubt the packaging mattered to him but at least it made me feel good!

Happy New Year
I never make New Years Cards but hubby asked me to make one for a friend of his. He got a late Christmas card from this friend and felt guilty that he never sent his friend a card this year. So here's what I came up with:
Pretty simple, right? I cut the 2014 out of the front of the card and then put different colors of cardstock behind the cut outs and then put another piece of white cardstock on the inside to cover them up. Cut out the hello, glued that on and then added the stars with a template and ink. Clean and simple all the way!

AWWWW
Isn't this just the cutest little face? This is my granddaughter Brylie. She looks like a little angel but we all know that's just not true. This photo caught a very rare moment with her.
I've been holding onto this photo just waiting for inspiration to hit me. It finally did with this sketch by Bev over at Turtle Soup.

Santa Gift Card Holder
Over at Turtle Soup we are starting our December Mini Crop today. We have six challenges going on and you have until December 29 to complete them. You don't have to do them all but the more you complete the better chance you have to win the Mini Crop prize drawing.
My challenge for the Mini Crop is to make a Gift Card Holder. Who can't use more gift card holders this time of year? This one is based on one I saw at Cracker Barrel, only theirs was made out of felt. I thought it was adorable and decided to make one using paper. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out and I'm sure my granddaughter will love it.....at least I know she'll love the gift card!

Sparkle and Bling
It's my turn for the Focus Friday challenge on the Cookin' Up Creations forum today. With the holiday season and so many northerners having lots of snow I wanted to focus on the sparkle that snow adds to the Holiday season. I always loved having snow for Christmas, it just seemed to add something special to all the festivities! So my challenge was to add some sparkle or bling to your layout.
My background paper has a lot of glitter on the snow covered branches, unfortunately it doesn't show up very well in the picture. Then I designed the title on my Gypsy and added Silver Ice Ice Stickles to it to make it look like snow and ice. I also punched out a strip of grass, coated it in the same Ice Stickles and turned it upside down to look like icicles over the photo. I decided to keep the layout simple since the background paper is so busy.
So come join us at Cookin' Up Creations and add a little sparkle to your life!

Gift Card Holder
Finishing up the last of my Christmas gifts and of course I needed another gift card holder. I bought this stamp last year and kind of forgot about it. I found it just the other day and thought it would be perfect for a friend who lives here in Florida. I'll be putting a Dunkin Donuts gift card in the little envelope. It'll be perfect for her!
I will also be entering this card in the Cards In Envy Icy or Hot challenge. I guess this could fit both categories. Icy with the snowflakes in the background and hot with the flamingo stamp.

All white Christmas card
There was a challenge over at Turtle Soup's 12 Days of Christmas that was to make an all white Christmas Card. At first I thought that would be hard but it actually wasn't. I really enjoyed the challenge and might just make a couple more all white cards.
It's hard to see but I put little dots of Diamond Stickles on the tree for ornaments.
On another challenge at Turtle Soup's 12 Days of Christmas you had to make a monochromatic card using ink and an embossing folder like a faux Letterpress technique. I had never tried this before but I absolutely love the look and will definitely be using this technique again.

Lots of Christmas Cards
I have been making Christmas cards like crazy this past week! I was really starting to panic when December rolled around and I hadn't even started my Christmas cards. That's just not like me but I've got a lot going on in my personal life right now. Anyway, I think I've finally finished my cards for this year. Who am I kidding, I'll probably make a couple more to have on hand just in case I need one at the last minute. Here's one of my cards for this year.
I entered this in the Turtle Soup 12 Days of Christmas challenge and also in the Cards In Envy Tag! You're It challenge.

Thanksgiving Cards
I was having such a hard time making some Thanksgiving cards for my granddaughters. I couldn't come up with any ideas for a 6 yr. and 3 yr. old. My husband suggested cutting out some Pilgrims or Indians on my Cricut! What a great idea and so quick and easy too! Here's what I came up with.
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Christmas Cookies for Santa
I love to bake and I love seeing my granddaughters having so much fun baking. These photos are from last year as they baked cookies for Santa. I wish I could have been there! The closest I've come to baking with them was last summer when Cadence and I make play-doh cookies. I got to roll out the doh and she cut them out. We made dozens and dozens of them! It was so much fun for both of us!

Home Decor
I wanted to try out my new Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland Cricut cartridge and decided to make a quick and easy home decor project. I cut out this stacked starburst and then painted, glittered and misted each piece. I used pop dots in between each die cut to give it some depth and then just attached it to a punched strip. I decided to use it as a candle wrap but it could also be used as a napkin ring or even around a vase.
In real life it looks much more sparkly!

School Pictures
Here's a layout I did of my granddaughters Kindergarten school picture. She loves getting her picture taken so I'm sure she was super excited this day. I used this sketch by Bev Code over at the Turtle Soup forums.
On my layout I used one 5x7 photo instead of the four smaller ones.

Pumpkins
Here's a layout I did of my youngest granddaughter. She just loved playing with the pumpkin guts. I think she is really gonna be a little tomboy and her parents are definitely going to have their hands full with her!
I tried some modeling paste for the first time with the clock stencil. I love how it turned out and can't wait to use it again!

Fall Fun
I used a sketch for this layout that I found on Pinterest. Unfortunately I didn't pin it so I can't post it here or give credit to the person who created it. So sorry, but I did follow the sketch completely.
These are my two granddaughters with their Uncle Kevin having some fun picking pumpkins last year.

Princess Twilight Sparkle
My granddaughter loves My Little Pony and her favorite is Princess Twilight Sparkle. I just love this photo of her and had so much fun scrapping it. I wanted it to feel whimsical and fun and I think that's exactly what I ended up with.

Anniversary Card
Last Sunday was my stepdaughter's 7th Wedding Anniversary so naturally I had to make a card for her and her husband.
I broke out some vellum that I've had for years and I really like the softness it adds to the card. Added some yellow and green glitter, a couple of flowers and some felt leaves. Very simple but I love how it turned out!
Fall Cards
Here are a couple of fall cards I made back on World Card Making Day. I just never got around to posting them. Better late than never!
Chalkboard Technique
Today I'd like to share a new technique, at least it's new to me. I've been seeing so many paper collections with a chalkboard effect that I decided to play around and see if I could duplicate it. It was easier than I thought! Here's what I came up with.
All I did was stamp in white ink on some smooth black cardstock and then emboss it with clear embossing powder. Then I used a white tissue and smudged some white ink around the embossed image. I love how this turned out! Here's the card I made with it.

Fall Colors
Fall is here and it's my favorite time of year. I love the cool crisp air and all the beautiful colors of the falling leaves. So naturally I had to scrap some fall pictures from a wonderful vacation we took in the White Mountains of New Hampshire before we moved to Florida. And since Cookin' Up Creations is having a month long Fall Into Autumn theme, this is perfect for me. Today I am hosting a challenge using fall colors with a twist of using your scraps.

Latest Cards
I finally had some time this weekend to get several cards made. The first was a clean and simple style card for my step daughters birthday. Purple is her favorite color so I think she'll really like this.
And then I decided to make some Halloween cards but I can only reveal one today since the others are for DT challenges.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Back to School
Here is a layout of my oldest granddaughter on her first day of first grade. She just loves school so much. And of course her younger sister had to be in one of the school day pictures. She really misses her big sister when she's at school.
This is also for the Scraplift a Member challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month we used this cute page by Ina.

History Class
I can remember not liking History class when I was in school. It seemed like you always had to remember dates and names. Little did I know that history would be so much fun when it came to scrapping. Nowadays, history means aging, distressing and vintage to me. Since Cookin' Up Creations month long theme is Back to School I came up with this layout for my History Class Challenge where I distressed everything on this page except for the background paper.
These photos were taken at the Grand Canyon. It was a rainy day with breaks of sun and it was so pretty watching the showers over the canyon. I was surprised how well these photos came out and you could actually see the showers.

Shadow Box Card
I found this Shadow Box card in a newsletter from Cardmaker Magazine and just had to try it. I love how it folds flat yet has so much dimension when standing. This card is also for the Sunday Card Challenge over at Turtle Soup.
And this is the view looking down into the card.
And since my anniversary is later this week I decided to make my shadow box card as an anniversary card for my husband. I think he'll really like it!

Wood Veneer Products
My wedding anniversary is this month and I thought it would be fun to dig out a photo to scrap from our honeymoon in Hawaii. We had such a wonderful time and took over 600 photos! I've slowly been scrapping them for the past 7 years. I won't be scrapping all of them, could you imagine the number of albums I would need? Anyway, this layout is for the What's New Wednesday challenge at Cookin' Up Creations. My challenge to everyone is to use some wood veneer products.
The butterfly and the flower and leaves are wood veneers from Prima that I inked. I've never colored them before but I really like how they turned out. The forever flag is from Little Yellow Bicycle and the papers are from Fancy Pants Parkbench collection.

It's another Monday so that means we have a new sketch up at Turtle Soup. It's another awesome sketch by our very own Bev. She comes up with some of the best sketches! See if you agree:
Here's my take on the sketch.
I've had this photo of my granddaughter for a while now and thought it would be perfect for this sketch. I love how it turned out!
