Valentine Window Card

With Valentine's Day coming up soon, I thought I'd better get started on my Valentine Cards. I don't make many, just for our daughter and granddaughters and of course one for hubby. I decided to do the Through the Window Card Challenge on Cards in Envy where you had to make a window on the front of the card so you could see the inside of the card through it. Here's what I came up with.

This was quite a challenge for me since I had a couple of layers on the front of the card. I didn't have a big enough heart punch so I had to use my Cricut and it wasn't easy getting the layers to line up. But I managed to get it right after several failed attempts.

Snow Fun

I wanted to do a winter layout using snowflakes but didn't want to use the usual blue colors most of us associate with winter layouts. I've always liked the combination of brown and pink so I thought I'd give it a try. I used kraft cardstock for the background that I stamped with white, blue and pink snowflakes.

This was based on the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog #65 sketch. It also fit the 1/20 challenge at the  My Scraps & More forum where you had to use 3 sets of 3 on your page. I used 3 different washi tapes, 3 brads and 3 different snowflake stamps.
And this also fit the Turtle Soup Winter Wonderland Mini Crop Challenge where you had to use snowflakes on your project.

1st Christmas

For some reason I have a hard time doing Christmas themed layouts. I don't know why....I have plenty of Christmas themed papers but even when they're from the same collection they never look good to me. I've had this photo of my 1st granddaughter's 1st Christmas for quite a while now and have never been able to scrap it. I've been working on this layout for several days now and I think I'm finally happy with it. I decided to follow the sketch that's up this week on the          My Scraps & More Sketch Blog, sketch #64.

This is also for the My Scraps & More 1/9 Throwback Thursday Challenge where you had to use a photo that was more than 1 year old. Got that covered, this photo is from 2007!

I also entered this in the Turtle Soup January Mini Crop Heritage Challenge. This challenge required you to use the oldest Christmas photos you have. Again, got that covered!

Sisters Make the Best Friends

These are my 2 granddaughters and right now they are the best of friends. I'm sure that will change soon. I did this layout for the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog and also a challenge on the My Scraps & More website.

This layout also fit a Crash Your Stash Challenge on the Turtle Soup website. I love being able to combine challenges!

Sleeping Diva

This is my granddaughter who is turning into a little Diva. She got up sometime during the night and put her sunglasses on and went back to bed. This is how they found her in the morning. I laughed so hard when I saw this picture and I knew right away the title would be Sleeping Diva.

I entered this in the Turtle Soup 1/13 Sketch Challenge and the My Scraps & More 1/8 Word Up Challenge.

Wee Little Cailins

Today I hosted the Crash Your Stash Challenge over on the Turtle Soup forums. I have so much cardstock, both scraps and full sheets, that I decided to use nothing but cardstock on my layout. I figured that with all the tools I have I could make my own papers.

I punched my background sheet and then backed the punched area with green cardstock and used modeling paste for the green chevrons. I then did a paisley faux letter press with my Cuttlebug and stamped the dark shamrocks with Versamark ink and embossed them.  I really had a lot of fun with this when I started thinking up ways to create my own printed paper!

Breathe

Here's a layout I did for the New Years Challenge at My Scraps & More. You had to pick a word for 2014. I chose the word Breathe. I need to remember to just stop and breathe from time to time. So much has happened in my life recently and I know there's much more to come. If I don't take some time to myself I just get a little crazy, bossy and then eventually I have a major meltdown. Anyway, here's my layout:

I wanted to keep it simple and focus on the photo and just Breathe!

Christmas 2011

I saw a sketch at My Scraps & More Sketches blog hop and it really inspired me to do a Christmas layout. I don't have any photos to scrap from this past Christmas yet so I dug into some old photos and came up with this one of my granddaughter Brylie.  She really loved playing with those cups.

I chose some old American Crafts Jolly papers that I've had forever. I find it very hard to work with as the colors aren't true Christmas red and green colors and then there's brown thrown in. Anyway....I followed the sketch exactly and really like how this turned out.

Thanks!

Here's a little card I put together yesterday. Actually it is for a scraplift challenge over at Turtle Soup. I wanted to use spring colors so decided to go with yellow. So naturally my flowers had to be yellow. After I stamped the image, I used watercolor pencils to color it in and then went over it with a water brush. It always amazes me how that really enhances the image. Then backed it with yellow cardstock and attached it to the white swiss dot embossed piece of cardstock. Then attached it to more yellow cardstock and added a small Thanks! near the bottom.

Happy New Year

This time of year is usually cold and snowy but I decided to change it up for my first layout of 2014. I did a layout of my stepdaughter and granddaughter at the beach. I love this selfie Colleen took of the two of them.

And everything on here is from my scraps pile. What a way to start the new year! A beachy layout and using up your scraps!
