Learning the guitar

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Each challenge will be based on the song plus one other element.  My challenge is based on the music. You must use something with music on it like paper, stamps, ribbon, wood veneer, die cuts or even hand drawn music notes. The second part to the challenge is to use only scraps, the only full sheet of paper can be the background. I hope you'll come play along with us.

I started with a cream colored background and stamped the treble cleffs and notes around the page. My music paper is from my scrap pile that I matted with scrap black cardstock and even the pink photo mat is from my scrap pile. I added the washi tape and made the tag using more music stamps.

Christmas Card

There's a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches and just perfect for a Christmas Card. Every Monday we have a new card sketch for you and on Wednesday's we show the DT's examples and announce the winners from the previous week. I hope you'll come play along with us!

Here's the fun sketch

Just wait to see all the Dt's examples...there are some clever ones!
I simply took some papers with small Christmas themed images on them and cut them into squares and mounted them on white sparkly paper and then on red glitter paper. The sentiment was cut using the same red glitter paper on my Cricut.

School Dress Up Days

I've got a new challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Each challenge will be based on that song along with an additional element. Doesn't that sound fun! My challenge is based on the lyric "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high". You will need to place your photos up "high" on your layout and the additional element is to use some twine, ribbon or lace on your layout. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

As you can see, my 3 photos are "way up high" and I've used some black raffia topped with some black and white twine as my additional element. Then it was just a matter of cutting a bunch of banners and layering them below the photos and I used several different fonts of alphabet stickers for the title.

Tis the Season

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesday we show all the DT members examples and announce the top 3 winners from the previous week. I hope you'll come join us!

Here's the sketch

This is such a cute sketch and so versatile. I decided it would be perfect for a Christmas card. I stamped the Christmas Tree image with some Distress Oxide Tea Dye and then stamped over that with some Distress Oxide Evergreen Bough. I love the 3D look that gave the stamp. This whole card was made from scraps which always makes me happy.

This was such an easy card! I cut the Happy out on my Cricut and then stamped and embossed the Thanksgiving flag. Easy Peasy!

Happy Valentines Day

I've got a challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is All About Dr. Seuss. Each challenge is based on one of his books. For this challenge I chose the book I Can Draw It Myself and you must draw something and color it in or stamp something and color it in or use a child's piece of artwork and doodle on your page.

I've had this coloring page by my granddaughter hanging on my fridge for a couple of years now and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I also doodled around the page and then stamped some images and colored them in.

Splash

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This week's sketch is by Bev Code and it is a fun sketch that you can get messy with.

Here's the sketch

The yellow background paper is from Recollections Ombre Brights collection and then I just used a stencil to add the blue dots around the page. The stitching is all drawn by hand since my sewing machine didn't want to work for me....seems to be happening more and more but then again it's about 40 years old. The circle scribbles are an old Tim Holtz Sizzix die and the title was cut on my Cricut.

Dr. Seuss Day

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is Dr. Seuss. Each challenge will be centered on a Dr. Seuss book. I hope you'll stop by and check out all the different ideas and challenges the Design Team members have come up with.

The book I chose was The Cat in the Hat which is about the mischief that Thing 1 and Thing 2 get into. And isn't this the perfect photo for this challenge. Every year my granddaughters school has a Dr. Seuss Day and everyone is encouraged to dress up.
For this challenge you will need to use a photo of 2 people and you must use the colors red, white and black only. I started with some white cardstock and added the red polka dots using a stencil. I added the washi tape and cut the Thing 1 & 2 out on my Cricut along with the title. I double matted the photo, added some red and black Nuvo Drops and called it done.

Thank You Card

There's a new card sketch up over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. Every Monday we have a new card sketch challenge for you. Then on Wednesday we reveal all the DT members examples and announce the winner from the previous week's challenge. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

Here's my card

Here's the sketch

My card doesn't look like the sketch but sometimes that happens. The flowers were done using a layering stencil and die from Pink Fresh. I've wanted to try a layering stencil for quite a while and I finally bought one! I love it....can't believe how easy it is! Anyway....I then die cut the thank you 3 times and glued them all together.  The background paper is a piece of linen-like paper that I embossed with a brick pattern.
