Miniature Golf

I've got a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is Christmas Countdown! Join us for some fun times as we countdown to Christmas. The countdown will feature a daily post that may be a holiday tip, a fun activity, a game, a challenge, a recipe or other surprises!

My challenge is a color challenge with an added twist.
When you think of Christmas you probably think of red and green. So for this challenge pick either red or green and pair it with another color for your layout. Along with those 2 colors, I want you to use something not usually found on a layout.

For my layout I chose the color red and paired it with black and added some red netting from a bag of lemons and black netting from a ham. I added some red and black splatters and some red and black patterned paper along with some black stickers.

Love

There's a new card sketch up on the Atlantic Hearts Sketches blog today. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesday's we show all the DT members examples and we pick the 3 top winners from the previous week. Stop by and play along with us!

Here's the sketch

This is such a fun sketch! I decided to start on my Valentine's Day cards with it and I love how it came out. I cut all the diamonds out on my Cricut, embossed the background with a tiny heart embossing folder and added some heart shaped puffy stickers. The sentiment was also cut with my Cricut.

Thanks for stopping by!

YUM

We've got a new sketch challenge up at Sketches in Thyme. This weeks sketch is by Bev Code and it's a fun one too. I liked it so much that I stayed very close to the sketch.

Here's the sketch

I made the background by using a 12 x 12 chicken wire stencil and created a rainbow effect using Distress Oxide inks. Then since the stencil was covered in ink I turned it over onto some white cardstock and pressed down to get the reverse image of the stencil. I liked that much better so decided to use it for this layout. Then just cut some 1 inch strips, layered them on top and added the photos of my granddaughter enjoying her smore. The title was cut using my Cricut and the stickers were some old leftovers from a card kit.

I hope you'll come play along with us!

Diamond Diva

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is a Christmas Countdown. We will be having either a challenge or a holiday tip, recipe, Christmas game or an other surprise. Be sure to check in daily.....you never know what you might find. And did I mention prizes, too!

For my challenge you must use a black or dark background as your base and then add some shapes that sparkle or sequins or crystals. I started with a black background and then cut some bright pink diamonds with my Cricut. I added some tiny white stars and some pink sequins. I also dotted both i's in the title with some clear crystals.

Be Merry

We've got a new card sketch up over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new card sketch up each Monday and on Wednesday's we show all the Design Teams examples and announce the winners from the previous week. I hope you'll come play along with us!

Here's the sketch

I just love all the dimension on this sketch. I used some smooth red glitter paper for the diamonds. I cut the diamonds with my Cricut and the gold ornament was cut using a Jeanine's Art die.

Learning the guitar

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Each challenge will be based on the song plus one other element.  My challenge is based on the music. You must use something with music on it like paper, stamps, ribbon, wood veneer, die cuts or even hand drawn music notes. The second part to the challenge is to use only scraps, the only full sheet of paper can be the background. I hope you'll come play along with us.

I started with a cream colored background and stamped the treble cleffs and notes around the page. My music paper is from my scrap pile that I matted with scrap black cardstock and even the pink photo mat is from my scrap pile. I added the washi tape and made the tag using more music stamps.

Christmas Card

There's a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches and just perfect for a Christmas Card. Every Monday we have a new card sketch for you and on Wednesday's we show the DT's examples and announce the winners from the previous week. I hope you'll come play along with us!

Here's the fun sketch

Just wait to see all the Dt's examples...there are some clever ones!
I simply took some papers with small Christmas themed images on them and cut them into squares and mounted them on white sparkly paper and then on red glitter paper. The sentiment was cut using the same red glitter paper on my Cricut.

School Dress Up Days

I've got a new challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Each challenge will be based on that song along with an additional element. Doesn't that sound fun! My challenge is based on the lyric "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high". You will need to place your photos up "high" on your layout and the additional element is to use some twine, ribbon or lace on your layout. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

As you can see, my 3 photos are "way up high" and I've used some black raffia topped with some black and white twine as my additional element. Then it was just a matter of cutting a bunch of banners and layering them below the photos and I used several different fonts of alphabet stickers for the title.

Tis the Season

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesday we show all the DT members examples and announce the top 3 winners from the previous week. I hope you'll come join us!

Here's the sketch

This is such a cute sketch and so versatile. I decided it would be perfect for a Christmas card. I stamped the Christmas Tree image with some Distress Oxide Tea Dye and then stamped over that with some Distress Oxide Evergreen Bough. I love the 3D look that gave the stamp. This whole card was made from scraps which always makes me happy.

Thanksgiving Slim Line Card

We've got a new card sketch challenge up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. This week the sketch is of a slim line card. I find these so fun to make! I hope you'll come join us!

Here's the sketch

This was such an easy card! I cut the Happy out on my Cricut and then stamped and embossed the Thanksgiving flag. Easy Peasy!

Happy Valentines Day

I've got a challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is All About Dr. Seuss. Each challenge is based on one of his books. For this challenge I chose the book I Can Draw It Myself and you must draw something and color it in or stamp something and color it in or use a child's piece of artwork and doodle on your page.

I've had this coloring page by my granddaughter hanging on my fridge for a couple of years now and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I also doodled around the page and then stamped some images and colored them in.

Splash

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This week's sketch is by Bev Code and it is a fun sketch that you can get messy with.

Here's the sketch

The yellow background paper is from Recollections Ombre Brights collection and then I just used a stencil to add the blue dots around the page. The stitching is all drawn by hand since my sewing machine didn't want to work for me....seems to be happening more and more but then again it's about 40 years old. The circle scribbles are an old Tim Holtz Sizzix die and the title was cut on my Cricut.

Dr. Seuss Day

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. Our theme this month is Dr. Seuss. Each challenge will be centered on a Dr. Seuss book. I hope you'll stop by and check out all the different ideas and challenges the Design Team members have come up with.

The book I chose was The Cat in the Hat which is about the mischief that Thing 1 and Thing 2 get into. And isn't this the perfect photo for this challenge. Every year my granddaughters school has a Dr. Seuss Day and everyone is encouraged to dress up.
For this challenge you will need to use a photo of 2 people and you must use the colors red, white and black only. I started with some white cardstock and added the red polka dots using a stencil. I added the washi tape and cut the Thing 1 & 2 out on my Cricut along with the title. I double matted the photo, added some red and black Nuvo Drops and called it done.

Thank You Card

There's a new card sketch up over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. Every Monday we have a new card sketch challenge for you. Then on Wednesday we reveal all the DT members examples and announce the winner from the previous week's challenge. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

Here's my card

Here's the sketch

My card doesn't look like the sketch but sometimes that happens. The flowers were done using a layering stencil and die from Pink Fresh. I've wanted to try a layering stencil for quite a while and I finally bought one! I love it....can't believe how easy it is! Anyway....I then die cut the thank you 3 times and glued them all together.  The background paper is a piece of linen-like paper that I embossed with a brick pattern.

Space Mountain

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Dr. Seuss and each challenge will be based on one of his books. My challenge today is based on Oh, The Thinks You Can Think. This book celebrates the imagination and encourages young readers to think. So my challenge to you is to use speech/thought bubbles on your page. They can be die cut or hand drawn. A favorite quote from the book is  “Think left and think right and think low and think high." So I'm thinking you need to place your photos on the left, right, top or bottom of your page.

As you can see, I placed my photo on the left side of my page and my thought bubbles were cut with my Cricut. Then I added some stencil work across the page and in the right hand corners along with some Disney stickers.

Magical Christmas

We've got a new card sketch challenge up today at Atlantic Hearts Challenges. We have a new one every Monday and then on Wednesday we reveal all the DT Members examples and announce the winners from the previous week. I hope you'll join us and play along.

Here's my example

Here's this week's sketch

Once again, I decided to make another Christmas card and at the rate I'm going I won't have to really push myself to get all my cards done at the last minute this year. YAY!!  Anyway, I stamped this Santa and then did just a bit of coloring with some watercolor pencils. I think it took me longer to pick out the papers than it did to color the stamp. All the papers were from my scrap pile and the sentiment is an old stamp I've had for years...not even sure where it came from.

1st Place

I've got a new challenge up today at Cookin' Up CreationsThis month's theme is A,B,C and 1,2,3,  meaning that we are doing challenges that have something to do with letters and numbers.

Since school starts back up in September I chose the letter S for School Subjects. Pick your favorite subject and design your layout around it. My favorite subject was always Math so I used numbers on my layout.

This came together so fast. I cut the baseball diamond with my Cricut along with the #1's and 1st Place. Everything else was from an old stash of softball stickers I'm trying to use up since my granddaughter no longer plays softball. So all in all, this was a very quick and simple layout.

EPCOT

There's a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This week's sketch is by Jenessa Franco and I think it's so pretty. I really enjoyed working with this sketch. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us. There is a prize offered each month.

Here's my take on the sketch

Here's the sketch

The hardest part was figuring out what papers to use. I dug through my stash and found some Bella Bella French Flea Market by My Mind's Eye from 2009. I had forgotten I even had some. All the papers used are from that collection except for the fussy cut flowers, they are from a Dear Lizzy collection by American Crafts.

Christmas Card

There's a new card sketch challenge up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesday we reveal all the Dt members examples and announce the winner from the previous week. I hope you'll join us and play along.

Here's my card

Here's the sketch

When I saw this sketch, I knew it would be perfect for a Christmas card and since I'm trying to get a head start on my cards it was perfect timing. I started by embossing a poinsettia and holly embossing folder on watercolor paper. I then used watercolors to paint the embossed portion of the leaves and flowers and used Nuvo Drops for the holly berries and the center of the poinsettia. The tag was cut with my Cricut and the bow is from a punch. I then stamped and embossed the sentiment and added a few more Nuvo Drops.

Fall Pumpkin Patch

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is A,B,C and 1,2,3,  meaning that we are doing challenges that have something to do with letters and numbers. For my challenge I chose the number 4 and turned it into a recipe challenge. I have a list of 8 different categories and you must pick 4 of them and then use at least 4 of each category on your layout.

Here's my example

For my layout I used 4 types of mixed media, 4 patterned papers, 4 stickers and 4 or more wood veneer pieces. I had fun with this challenge and digging through my stash. I hope you'll stop by and play along with all the fun challenges we have going on this month.

Halloween Cards

Decided to work on Halloween cards today. I needed two for my granddaughters.

I love making Halloween cards and had fun with these. I started with creating the backgrounds using Distress Oxides that I brushed on white cardstock and then flicked some water on them and spritzed them with some Dazzling Diamonds mist from Tattered Angel. The moon with the stars was a freebie from Cricut a few weeks ago....who doesn't love freebies! Everything else was cut using some older dies except for the little flying witch and the Witches Brew which are both stamps that I clear embossed to make them stand out. My one granddaughter is scared of everything so hopefully these won't scare her too much.

Merry Everything

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesdays we reveal all the DT members examples and announce the winner from the previous week. I hope you'll come play along with us! Today's sketch is for a slimline card!

Here's the sketch

I thought I would get a jump on my Christmas cards and as soon as I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for some snowflakes. And an added bonus for me is that it was all made using scraps....I love it when I can do that!

Ahoy

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is It's a Pirates Life For Me. All challenges will be pirate themed yet broad enough for many interpretations. So, in keeping with the Pirate theme, pirates use metal swords, right? So use some metal on your layout!

On my page, my title is metal but I wanted to try to use even more metal. I took some regular
aluminum foil, wrapped it around some cardstock and then embossed it. I love how it came out! As for the rest of page, I kept the embellishments to a minimum so as not to take away from the embossed foil.

Peace

We've got a new card sketch up today at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. We have a new one every Monday and on Wednesday we reveal all the DT members examples and announce the winners from the week before. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

Here's my example for this week

Here's the sketch

I decided to make a Christmas card, mostly because I wanted to play with my new snowfall stencil from MFT. I used some Distress Oxide Inks, Wilted Violet and Stormy Sky, to create the background. The star is from a stamp and die framelits set from Sizzix and Peace was cut using my Cricut.

VACA

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This week's sketch is by Brenda Ragsdale. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us.

Here's my take on the sketch

Here's the sketch

This came together so quickly for me. I very seldom do multi-pic layouts and I couldn't find 4 pics that went together so I settled on just 3. But that's the beauty of  following a sketch....it can take you anywhere. Other than the number of photos I pretty much stuck to the sketch.

Quaranteen Birthday

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is It's a Pirates Life for Me. Challenges this month will be "Pirate" themed, but broad enough for interpretation on so many levels. Batten Down the Hatches, it's gonna be a fun month! So for my challenge you must use only the colors of the Pirate flag which are black and white. You can use color photos.

I started with black cardstock for the background and then added texture using white Modeling Paste and a stencil. I added some black and white floral paper, some little white flower gems, a big white heart and some Pop Drops also in white.

Halloween Card

We've got a new card sketch challenge up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new sketch every Monday and on Wednesday we reveal all the Design Team members examples and pick a winner from the previous week's entries.

Here's the sketch

I thought this sketch would be a great one for a Halloween card.  I've had these stamps for years and never used them but as soon as I saw the sketch I knew they would be perfect.  I stamped them all in black and then heat embossed them to really make them pop.  The purple background was made by sponging some Distress Oxide Inks, Hickory Smoke and Wilted Violet. onto white cardstock to give
the card a bit of a spooky feel.

Sedona, AZ

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is Route 66 and challenges will be based on the road trip, destinations, travel or the song.

I was looking at a map of Route 66 and noticed that there are a lot of crossroads along the way. Some looked like X's and some looked like crosses....perfect for a layout. So for my challenge you have to use X's, crosses or something resembling crossroads on your layout. I chose to use X's on my example.

I just cut small strips of paper and attached them in the shape of X's with brads. The photos are all destination photos of an arts and crafts village we went to out in Sedona, AZ.

Be Merry

We've got a new sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. We have a new one every Monday. Since it's July I thought I'd start celebrating Christmas in July by getting some of my Christmas Cards started.

Here's the sketch

This is such a versatile sketch and I had a hard time deciding what theme I wanted to go with. When I finally decided on Christmas it came together so fast.

Happy Easter

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. We have a new sketch every week. I hope you come play along with us. We've got some really fun sketches to work with.

This is my take on this week's sketch

Here's the sketch

Isn't this a fun sketch? It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with it and then I came across these Easter photos and decided to use little chicks and bunnies instead of butterflies. I cut them out with my Cricut in different sizes and colors to get the rainbow effect. Other than that the rest of this layout came together rather quickly.
