US

There's a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations.  This month's theme is all about Mood Boards. Mood Boards can be used to pull ideas, styles, concepts, textures and most importantly provide a starting point for your inspiration. So my favorite color is teal, so I went looking for a teal Mood Board and came up with this one. I love the soft teal color against a chocolate brown.

In addition to the Mood Board, we have a sketch to work with today. I found this sketch by Laura Whitaker and knew it would be perfect for my layout.

And finally, here is my layout using the Mood Board and sketch.

I really had to dig to find these papers. I had plenty of brown and teal cardstock but hardly any patterned paper in those colors. I was just about to give up and head out to Hobby Lobby when I found a very old 8x8 paper pad from Hot Off The Press. It was from 2006 but it was perfect for my Mood Board!

Christmas Card for AHSC

We've got another card sketch up over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketches Blog. This week's sketch is a very clean and simple one and would be good for any type of card. Since I'm still working on my Christmas cards, I had to go with the Christmas theme.

Here's my take on the sketch

Here's the sketch

I hope you'll stop by and play along with all of us. All the DT members cards will be revealed on Wednesday along with last weeks winners.

Sympathy Card

It's time for the December Card Challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations. We have a new card challenge each month and you may enter as many cards as you like. This month's theme is Anything Goes. I know we're all busy right now so I thought I'd make it easy for you. Sadly I needed a sympathy card for a dear friend.

This card came together quickly and used up lots of my scraps.....even the card base was in my scrap pile. The floral stamps are from MFT and I inked them with black ink, stamped them on a piece of scrap paper and then without reinking them I stamped them on the card to get the dark gray look. I love how it turned out.

I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

Sargent Camp

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. I just love this sketch and really had fun with it. This is my granddaughter on her first time at camp. I was surprised she actually wanted to go but she did and she loved it. She can't wait to go again!

Here's my take

Here's the sketch

I first used a wood grain stencil on the background and then added some bundled sage Distress Oxide that I watered down.  I used several different size plates and bowls to trace around for the circles. The trees were die cut from several different papers and I then added some Stone Nuvo Drops. They came out too white so I added some Glimmer Mist to them.

Are We Having Fun Yet?

There's a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is all about Moodboards. Each challenge will have a different moodboard to work with.

Here's the moodboard I chose for my challenge

And since it's Wednesday it is also Gallery Lift Day.
I picked this fun layout by Lolis to lift

And here is my take on the moodboard and the lift

This is a great layout to use up your scraps on and if you're like me, I got to dig into my huge stash of buttons too.
I hope you'll come join us and did I mention we always have a monthly prize....a $20 gift certificate to the store of your choice.

Love

I've got a sketch challenge up today at Cookin' Up Creations. This month our theme is Let's Gather Together, Snoopy Style. So your layouts must have a gathering theme to them and of course we'll have a Peanuts twist with each challenge also. Each DT member has picked a Peanuts character and mine is Sally Brown who is Charlie Brown's younger sister. She has a huge crush on Linus so my twist is to scrap a photo of something you love. It can be a person, food, pet....anything you want. You also have to use the sketch you see below which is by Stacy Daubenberger from Sketch~N~Scrap.

My layout is about the love between my stepdaughter and her boyfriend. We were all together at Disney World celebrating my granddaughter's 10th birthday.

Here's the sketch I used

I hope you'll stop by and play along with us at Cookin' Up Creations. There are a lot of fun challenges going on this month!

Merry Christmas

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. This is such a versatile sketch and can be used for any type of card. I really love the simplicity of the sketch. I hope you'll stop by and play along. I decided it would work well for a Christmas card.

Here's the sketch

I started with a white base card and added a panel of gold foil paper and some shiny red glitter paper. I love this red glitter paper, it's so pretty and really sparkles. I die cut the sentiment plaque using a Gina Marie Wonky Stitched die and then stamped and embossed the sentiment. The tree was die cut using a Momenta Tiny Christmas die. I also added some gold stickles to both die cuts.

Fun Times

We've got a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today. This weeks sketch is very cute but it leaves a lot of white space. I keep looking at my take on it and want to add more to it. But I'm going to walk away and leave it alone!

Here's my layout

Joy

We've got a new card sketch up at Atlantic Hearts Sketches today. This weeks sketch is pretty and I thought it would be perfect for a Christmas card. We are also pairing up with Double Trouble this week. You'll need to use this sketch along with Double Troubles "stitch it up" requirements. Be sure and check out their blog for more details. I hope you'll stop by and play along with both of us.

Here's the sketch

I decided to go with nontraditional colors for this Christmas card. The snowflake diecuts are from Impression Obsession and the sentiment is from MFT. The light blue paper is from Craftsmith's Ice Crystals paper pad and the dark blue paper is unknown. I just found it in my stash....no idea where it came from.

Madame Tussauds

I've got a new challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is Paper Pad Bashing. We each picked out one of our paper pads and will be using it all month long in hopes of bashing the pad. I hope you'll stop by and play along.....come on....we all know we have paper pads lying around that we need to use.

Today's challenge is a gallery lift. I went back to July and found a great layout by Beth to lift.

Here is Beth's layout

Here is my take on it using the SEI Moravia paper pad

This was a great layout to lift! I was able to use up lots of leftover scraps from my paper pad along with 2 whole sheets of 12x12 papers from it and the colors were just perfect for this photo of my granddaughters with Lady Gaga at Madame Tussuads.

Candy Time

We've got a new card sketch up today at Atlantic Hearts Sketches.

I decided to make a Halloween card for my youngest granddaughter. She is afraid of just about everything so this was a perfect sketch for her Halloween card. I sure hope it's not too scary for her!

Pool Time

We've got a new sketch up today over at Sketches in Thyme. Come play along with us!

Here's the sketch

This was a fun yet difficult challenge for me. I have such a hard time finding photos that I can cut into circles. I know I could've used square photos but I really liked the look of the circle photos. The sun and the title were cut with my Cricut. I even managed to use up a strip of enamel dots left over from a card kit I've had for a while now.

Creepy

It's that time of year for ghosts and goblins! I've got a card up today over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches and I decided I needed to make a Halloween card.

Here's this weeks sketch

I cut the window out on my Cricut and then added some vellum behind the window panes. I took some yellow/orange cardstock and stamped the skeletons on it and placed that behind the window panes as well. Once I got it all glued together I was sorry I didn't stamp more skeletons so I decided to add the ghost sticker along with the creepy banner.

Pumpkin Spice

I've got a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month our theme is Paper Pad Bashing. We've all got a nice supply of paper pads we've just had to have over the years but have you ever used one up? I know I haven't! So this month we're trying to use up one whole pad. At the beginning of the month we all picked one paper pad and we will use it all month in every challenge we complete. It was hard to pick just one but I finally settled on an old one from SEI called Moravia. It's mostly fall colors which is my favorite time of year so it should be easy to make a big dent in it or perhaps use it up.

Here's my layout

Here's the layout I found at Scrapbook.com to lift.
Artist: LisaGregoryStarSailor

I started by die cutting and punching the leaves from watercolor paper and then painted them in fall colors. I also fussy cut the leaves closest to the flower from a piece of the SEI paper. I used both a solid orange paper and a striped foil paper from the paper pad. I punched the two cream colored strips and added the glass mosaics and sentiment card.

World Card Making Day 2020

It's World Card Making Day and we're celebrating over at Cookin' Up Creations. We've got a bunch of fun challenges and prizes too! New challenges will be posted every 2 hours and you have til 12pm est on Monday, October 5th to enter. I hope you'll stop by and play along.

For my challenge I decided to try a slim line card that seems to be all the rage lately. They're great for building scenes with your stamps and die cuts.

I even made an envelope although the card would fit in a standard business size envelope.

Hope to see you at Cookin' Up Creations for some World Cardmaking Day fun!!

Thanksgiving Card

We've got a new card sketch up today over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketches Blog. We have a new sketch every Monday and on Wednesday we show all the DT members examples and announce the winners from the week before. We'd love it if you'd come play along with us!

Here's my example

Here's the sketch

When I saw the sketch I knew I'd just have to do a fall card. I love fall so much and really enjoy working with fall colors. I started with a rusty orange cardstock for the card base. I embossed some cream cardstock with a chicken wire embossing folder and dragged some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink over it. I die cut the leaves and then used watercolors to make them look fallish. I mounted them on more cream cardstock and edged it with some more of the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and mounted all of them on some Kraft cardstock. The sentiment is from Altenew and was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and mounted on two stitched oval die cuts from Tutti Designs.

Bubbles

I've got a challenge up at Cookin' Up Creations today. This month's theme is all things round. It's a great month to use your imagination and really think outside the box. Today's challenge is about bubbles. I went with my granddaughters blowing bubbles but when you think about it bubbles are everywhere....like in ocean waves, drinks, bathtime, even washing your car or dog. What can you come up with???

I've got bubbles everywhere on here. I used a stencil with ink and added some and then cut some vellum out on my Cricut and added them around the page. I also decided to use polka dot paper.
I hope you'll stop by and play along with us!

Happy Scrapping!

1st Dance

We've got a new sketch up over at Sketches in Thyme today. Every day a DT member will reveal their take on this weeks sketch. I hope you'll come play along with us!

Here's the sketch

This is a great sketch that came together very quickly for me. I knew I was going to use pink as that is my granddaughters favorite color. So I dug through my scraps and pulled out several different pink scraps that I layered behind the photo and added the doily behind everything. The fabulous card is really for pocket pages but I thought it worked well here. I just added another pocket card behind it to make it the same size as the photo. The title was cut with my Cricut and then I just added some washi tape and some black Nuvo Drops.

Happy Halloween

We've got a new card sketch up at the Atlantic Hearts Sketches Blog today. This week's sketch is so versatile and it got me to thinking about making some kind of a holiday card. After going through my stamps I decided I wanted to make a Halloween card. So come play along with us and be sure to check out the blog on Wednesday, that's when all the DT members cards will be published for this weeks sketch.

Here's the sketch

I got these stamps last year and had never used them. When I stamped the coffin it took forever to get good coverage and it still has some spots that didn't take the ink real well. I cleaned it several times and tried all different kinds of inks. I finally decided it would be ok since it was for Halloween. Anyway, I used a black card base and layered the orange and black plaid paper on top and then after stamping the coffin and crow I mounted them on black paper and tore around the edges. I found a caterpillar in my sticker stash for the crow and couldn't resist giving the crow a red eye. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.

Loving Life

There's a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is all things circular. So, I put my thinking cap on and came up with something different. I was holding an empty toilet paper roll and wondering what I could do with it as far as scrapping goes. I thought about dipping the ends in ink or paint and using it as a stamp or inking up the sides of it and rolling it across some paper but then it came to me. How about standing it on end and spraying some mist down the center of it. So I played around with it using different brands of mist and even tried a paper towel roll. I liked the paper towel roll with Dylusions mists the best. One little tip for you, after you spray down the center of the roll, hold the roll in place for a few seconds to let all the mist droplets hit the paper. If you don't, you may get a little overspray as you lift the roll.

I really had fun with this technique and I hope you'll give it a try.

On The Boardwalk

I've got a new challenge up today over at Cookin' Up Creations. This months theme is focusing on all things circular....the possibilities are endless when you stop and think about it. For my challenge I chose a table place setting using a charger, dinner plate, salad plate and bread plate as my circles.

I started by cutting out 4 different sized circles of different papers on my Cricut and then layered them off-center. I also cut out some hibiscus flowers on my Cricut and put them on opposite corners of the layout. I then added the flowers to one corner and cut out the curved title on my Cricut.

September Card Challenge

Every month we have a card challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations. It can be a sketch, tutorial or a specific kind of card like Christmas, Birthday, etc. For the month of September I decided the challenge would be to make a fall theme and you must have leaves on your card. I hope you'll stop by and play along with us.

Here's my example

The leaves were cut from Lawn Fawn's Stitched Leaves dies and then I used watercolor paint to color them. The background was done by inking some watercolor paper and then spritzing it with water. I then inked the edges and added some Nuvo Drops.

Hello Card

We've got a new card sketch up at the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Blog today. Every Monday we have a new card sketch and on Wednesday we reveal all the DT members examples. I hope you stop by and play along with us.

Here's my card

Here's this weeks sketch

For my card I started with a black card base and then took some water color paper and swiped some watercolors across the mid section. Then die cut a black ragged edge frame, added a light purple piece of cardstock on top and stamped and embossed the Hello sentiment. I die cut the flower in a darker purple cardstock and stamped it with a script stamp in black. And for the finishing touch I added several black Nuvo Drops.

Topsfield Fair 2017

I decided to play along with another challenge over at Cookin' Up Creations today. Our theme this month is TV Game Shows. This challenge is based on the game show Blockbuster which I've never heard of but players had to answer trivia questions and complete a path through the hexagons on the playing board. So for this challenge you had to use hexagons on you layout.

I used a stencil and some Distress Oxides to create a hexagonal pattern on the right and then punched some hexagons for the left side.

School Days

We've got some fun challenges up at Cookin' Up Creations. This month's theme is Game Shows. I decided to enter the Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader challenge where you had to make it a school themed page.

All the embellishments came from a very old collection from Graphic 45....I can't remember what it was called. The notebook page frame was from a different company that I've had for ages.  I love using up older things, means I can buy more new things. lol

It's Time to Celebrate

We've got a new card sketch up today over at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. We have a new one every Monday and we'd love for you to play along. On Wednesday we show all the DT members examples and announce the winners from the previous week.

Here's this week sketch

Here's my take on it

I started with a white card base. I used a piece of yellow cardstock and stenciled some Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide on the top. I punched 2 strips of scallops in 2 different colors of blue and then staggered them. The flowers are all die cuts from Paper Roses and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things. Then I decided to add some black Nuvo Drops to the flower centers and the bottom left corner just for good measure.

I  hope you'll come play along with us!
